Cacao Cup - Artist Collaboration
This collection of cups came to life with the specific intention to be used to drink Ceremonial Cacao. A series of 20 cups were made with 4 different designs each signifying a different representation of the energy of the Sacred Feminine.
The Sun connects with the common phrase "giving of light". The Moon and Sun together honor the Lunar Cycles. The soft countenance of a woman representing the Sacred Feminine. Lastly, the Cacao pod honors the energy of Mother Earth that births the Cacao.
For this collaboration I chose a fellow ceramic artist Sunnie (IG:@sunnierae_art) whose work I admire and whom also coincidentally holds the specific birth date of 8 B'atz' on the Mayan Calendar, which in and of itself is one of the most important days of ceremony for the Maya, the Maya New Year, Waqxaqib' (8) B'atz'.
Due to the significance of this connection, about half of the proceeds of the sale of these cups were given to this artist.
