Ceremonial Sahumador - T2T Collaboration

$220.00

Trash To Treasure (T2T) is a series of pieces made after being damaged or discarded by other fellow members of the ceramic community. Some voluntarily donated, others literally taken out of the studio trash bin.

My vision behind these pieces is to instill one of the biggest lessons I've learned in other fellow potters, which is "Mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow". As beginners, we are quick to discard and reject our work because it's not the best and so instead of letting the clay be and process our mistakes, we toss the piece in the trash.

It is my goal to contest that notion by up-cycling these "trashed" pieces, added a bit of Ceramic Magic, and then selling them and giving 50% of the proceeds to those original artists.

This particular piece was originally created by a fellow instructor, the foot completely fell off and was headed for the bin. I said I would bring life back into it and make it my own, and here it is. Decoration of carvings is inspired by Native American textile artwork.
