Medium Handheld Copalero - Mottled Jade

$65.00

Copaleros offer a more intimate space for you to burn your loose leaf herbs, incense sticks, palo santo, or candles. Some varieties offer a hollow ash pit chamber in the handle area for residue to collect and allow for easy disposal when finished burning, while others are sealed and burn in place within the confines of the bowl shape itself.

Unlike the chimenea/chimney design, copaleros are typically meant to be handheld for the most part and carried around during smudging or smoking out and then left in place until smoking and burning has expired.

Due to the nature of the hollow variety I've created, once the contents are well lit (in the case of loose leaf/sticks), the handle itself can get extremely hot with fresh ash falling into the collecting pit within the handle. The tradeoff being although yes the handle can get extremely hot, the contents are less likely to suffocate themselves with ash buildup, and thus stay lit in the bowl for longer resulting in a more complete burn.

These designs introduce the poetic nature of the saying "As above, so below". As the Light is created at the Source, the matter in physical is transformed by Fire into the Ashed Ground we stand on. The Smoke signaling and calling to those that know its Nature, being Witness to the transformation taking place. Once transformed it is sheltered within the Walls of the Mother, awaiting its release to the Earth where it may continue the Cycle of Life.

An ideal home for your long stem candles, incense sticks, or longer branched herb burning sticks.

NOTE:

Although items are stoneware, they can get EXTREMELY hot. The heat of burning any material, even that of a small tealight can pass through and melt or ignite other surrounding flammable surfaces, as well as result in burns to skin, and release toxic chemicals/fumes.

Candles should NEVER be left unattended. Keep away from flammable materials/objects, and use in well ventilated areas.
